That Grisly Cartoon Film Conclusion That Haunts Viewers

Out of all the adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve ever watched, no other has remained with me quite like the dread-soaked finale of a graphically gory as well as highly provocative film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director created a dark, somber and often savage universe with several minor , desolate glimmers of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from a desire to advance the medium even more, the director stated that it was more an effort to communicate a global, cross-cultural message about “the shared root of all wars.”

This theme is expressed through a group of colorful pastel bears , openly modeled after a famous line of lovable characters.

Being raised in a community focused on aggression and the military-industrial complex, many of the bears are consumed by slaughtering the mythical beasts, because of a holy book that tells them they used to be masters of the woods, before these creatures forced them out.

Some haven’t fully bought into the propaganda, and prefer to try out narcotics or fornicate in the woods.

In contrast to their gentle counterparts, these bright beings display sexual organs and definite urges.

For a particular especially vicious, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the battle with the unicorns turns into a route to control — and specifically to authority above his more tender, kinder brother the character Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively , an apparent psychopath , and when fear takes over his squad and takes his teammates individually, he takes progressively control personally, in increasingly gory, harmful methods.

At the same time, the unicorns are suffering their own terror, in the form of a spreading, harmful creature in their woods.

“In the early stages, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker stated. “But then it evolves into a more dramatic and sad movie. And by the end, it’s a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out resembling one of the most quirky films by an iconic filmmaker, which find a mischievous joy in allowing cartoon characters curse, engage in violence, or sex each other up.

Subsequently it becomes something more like a darker work by that same artist, including ever more visual gore and a tangible relation to the actual tragedy of conflict.

Ultimately, it becomes a full-on theatrical horror massacre.

The fear that makes this an ideal spooky-season movie starts well before than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to view a film they haven’t ever viewed until now, and who can handle a story which delivers no restraint.

See it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow deep within you and stay with you.
