Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
