President Trump Calls Relatives of Shot Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
