'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game ended with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and his teammate quickly slammed home the deflection before racing off toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for club and country, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to interact with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
