I'll overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's bout.
Former two time world title holder Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.
Fighter's Mindset
"I'm going to injure his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I will seriously aim to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually famous for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, at the same time, took aim at British rival Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.
He lost to Briton Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial earnings.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in round four or five and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for 2026.
"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it emphasized just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the match is actually going ahead.
