Followers Call for Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the pop star are urging that a man who jumped a barricade and grabbed the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct witches.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
